Do not reserve a general Tanzania hotel before understanding where and how the park journey begins. Ask how accommodation, boat or other local transfers and guided visits connect, including the end of the programme. Give the departure day the same attention as arrival.

Get current information on walking duration, terrain, participation conditions and guiding from the relevant operator or park authority. Wildlife moves, so a particular encounter should not be treated as a guaranteed outcome. A programme open to the overall nature experience is more adaptable than a holiday tied to one expectation.
Allow time for the lakeshore and rest
Leave room to settle in after transfers rather than moving immediately into a demanding forest visit. Getting to know the lakeshore surroundings outside the activity hours can be part of the journey too. In a short itinerary, consider making Gombe a complete section instead of continually adding other parks.
