Give the first walk a shape

Build an old-town day around a few main areas rather than walking from the hotel with an expectation of covering everything. Arrange movement between upper and lower sections around your own comfort. Leave enough flexibility for photographs and meals without feeling that every pause disrupts the schedule.

Return to the river at another time

A viewpoint does not have to disappear from the itinerary after one visit. Morning and evening can give the same area a different feeling. A second visit as a quieter walk, rather than another major excursion, can give a short city break a sense of continuity.

A suggested three-night stay

Explore near your accommodation on arrival. Give the first full day to the old town and river views, then use the next for a museum, another neighbourhood or unstructured time. Treat travel further into the region as a separate day rather than an automatic addition to an already busy city programme.

Decide how you will reach the room

For an old-town property, ask about luggage access and any parking arrangements. Compare a room elsewhere against daily journeys as well as its price.
